BLUSHING BRIDE

I missed Father's Day because I was galivanting in the South of France so I've come home today for belated celebrations. Here's the card I made my Dad. I thought I'd make use of one of my parents' wedding photos. I don't think my Mum's going to be too happy with it though. I'm expecting the use of the word 'disrespectful'.

THIS TOWN IS THE OLDEST FRIEND OF MINE

I just spent a week in the French Riviera and funnily enough, Metronomy's album The English Riviera was our faithful musical companion when we realised the car didn't have anywhere to plug in our iPod adaptor. Bonjour back-up CDs! This song was in our heads the whole holiday and is now the soundtrack to the sleepiest French village ever.

I really wasn't feeling this album when it first came out but it's a grower. As all the best albums are. Ohhhhhhh, to be back in France. Sigh.

LAST DANCE BEFORE FRANCE

Tomorrow I leave the drizzle and fly out to the South of France for a week of getting lost in a Twingo, napping in the sun and asking Jerry why the fuck she packed FOUR self-help books. Cheese me up, bitches!

p.s. Don't burgle my house, there are still people there.

I HEART CATS

I'm a dog person but since owning a slice of life last year, I've become less suspicious of cats. That's not to say I fully trust them - that would be foolish; they always look like they're concocting a planetary takeover. Always keep one eye open around cats - if only just to see when they're arching their back ready to fart in your face.

Anyways - cats in heart shapes. No word of a lie. Look at this shit, 100% pure adorbs:

A SQUIRREL IN A WIG

On Saturday I popped into that little market on Westgate Street in Hackney, and spying the only thing I wanted, was dismayed to find a little label around its neck saying, 'I AM NOT FOR SALE'. Why would they taunt me like that? Of course I was going to want the faux (I hope) stuffed squirrel with the 18th century wig. Yes, that's right, you heard me - a squirrel donning an 18th century headpiece. Genius. In my upset at not being able to own the critter, I didn't take a picture. But here's the closest thing I could find on Google images:

I need this in my life. Holler if you see one.

UNCERTAINTY

So I'll admit, I only watched this film because I think Joseph Gordon-Levitt is aesthetically pleasing. (Can't get enough of that Asian fusion.) Plus Lynn Collins has this natural beauty about her in the film that makes you just want to stare at her face and wish you looked like that.

It's basically the Sliding Doors-esque idea that the smallest thing can have the biggest impact on your life - in this case, choosing to sack off going round your Mum's for lunch means you find yourself testing your fitness as you race around New York with a phone you found, avoiding the shots of a gunman. (Karma's a bitch.)

I think this is a film that needs another watch. And I can't decide what I'd think about it if the leads weren't pretty. But being the geek I am, I researched the film after and found that all the dialogue was improvised. Impressive stuff. Plus there's a lot of background on the dog that features in the film. And I love dogs.

Watch the film, then indulge your inner film buff here.

WAKEY!WAKEY!

Not such a fan of the video but the song's sweet.
