Not a fan of this polished, re-done version of their mixtape favourite but I bloody love the video. Watching dead people sing is my favourite thing.

SWISS LIPS - U GOT THE POWER (BASTILLE REMIX)

Everything Bastille touch turns to gold, not that Swiss Lips don't make precious metal to start with, but Dan Smith's additional vocals really transform this mellowed out rework of the Manchester boys' U Got The Power.

I spoke to Swiss Lips frontman Sam for my day job last week and he was a right hoot, which makes sense seeing as he's in a band which whisks up what can only be described as jolly-guitar-dance-pop-magic (personal favourite Danz right here). Catch the chat in next month's BLISS (what do you mean you're too old?) but for now, enjoy U Got The Power. I certainly don't have any power 'cos I'm about to nod off. Already excited about me breakfast. Crumpeeeeeeeeets!

BASTILLE - OTHER PEOPLE'S HEARTACHE PT.2

"In the stillness of remembering what you had. And what you lost."

I've been SO excited ever since Bastille announced they were doing another mixtape. The original Other People's Heartache was so fucking good and this has lived up to my expectations. And then some. Gabrielle Aplin's voice on their Fleetwood Mac cover of Dreams is in-fucking-sane. My neighbours and housemates can verify that I spend 90% of my waking day singing along to my music but her high notes are something else and I'm not even gonna try and go there. Her voice is incredible. My favourite track by a mile. 

Other standout tracks are their covers of TLC's No Scrubs, Frank Ocean's Thinkin Bout You and Calvin Harris/Florence Welch's Sweet Nothing. God I love a good mixtape. This is all I've been listening to since yesterday. I can't wait until my leg heals and I can dance again. I'll be twirling around my room to most of these. Come on bone, you can do it.

BASTILLE - WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

How I've only recently discovered this band is beyond me. Lead singer Dan's voice is a thousand shades of beautiful. I've been listening to their hauntingly amazing Other People's Heartache EP constantly since I downloaded it (get it free here) a couple of weeks ago, and their City High cover stirs so much more in me than the original.



Big love for their tune Sleepsong too. As someone on You Tube commented - 'I don't understand how every single song can be so fucking brilliant'. Me. Neither.



New single Bad Blood is out 20th August. The band are playing festivals throughout the Summer and are on tour in October.
