MOGWAI - WHAT ARE THEY DOING IN HEAVEN TODAY?

I never got into Mogwai but I love this. Turns out it's a cover so that might explain it (check out the Washington Phillips original here). Feel like this song could really save someone if they listened to it at just the right moment. Deep.

The song accompanies b-side Wizard Motor, and is taken from the band's latest offering Les Revenants, the soundtrack to a French TV show of the same name. Curious.

What Are They Doing In Heaven Today? is out 24th Feb.

LOS BRINCOS - THE TRAIN

Turned 6Music on while I was heating up my soup (and cutting up the butteriest avocado known to man) when this little ditty came on. Found myself shimmying all over the show. Apparently they're a four piece Spanish band from the 60s. Love this.

THE STROKES - ONE WAY TRIGGER

New Strokes new Strokes new Strokes. Not sure not sure not sure. So I'm gonna go gnaw on a block of haloumi, pour myself a rum and listen to it some more.

The follow-up to their 2011 album Angles is coming this year, but for now, enjoy the free download of One Way Trigger. I will always love The Strokes but I'm just not sure this is doing anything for me.

WILLY MOON FOR L’OFFICIEL HOMMES PARIS

Last Wednesday I was exiting Hoxton Street Studios whilst doing my best Nicole Scherzinger impression, when who should I happen across smoking outside? Only Willy Moon. He has a reallllll good face. Really interesting. As illustrated by the below, from the Winter 2012 edition of L'Officiel Hommes Paris.

On a childish note, whilst relaying my excitement to my colleagues the next day, one of them simply smirked and said, 'Can you imagine going out with someone called WILLY?'

She has a point.

ARLISSA - STICKS & STONES (FRICTION REMIX)

Been trying to find this online since Zane Lowe played it last week and have at last found a radio rip. It's gonna have to do. Although I got sent the Sticks & Stones single this week at work and was overjooooooyed to find the Friction remix on there. P.A.R.T.Y.

It's so, so good. Perfect for that last dance round your room before you leave the house tonight.

Sticks & Stones is out 3rd March.
Check out Arlissa's website.

SIR SLY - GHOST

LA trio Sir Sly have made the perfect song for those days where you feel a liiiiiittle bit numb. Gonna cite this band at immigration as a reason for me being allowed to move to California. I reckon it'll fly.

Check their Facebook and listen to more here.
Download Ghost on iTunes now and get the 7" on 25th Feb.

FOALS - MY NUMBER (VIDEO)

Dis dat one where dey used der fans. Filmed at The Garage in good ole Highbury, Foals invited their fanmily down to be in the crowd for their latest video/advertorial for Talk To Frank. Now I've been cut out of in two music videos in my life and I guarantee every single person in that video is right this second watching it with hawk eyes to screenshot their 2 sec (if they're lucky) cameo. Well ya would, wouldn't ya?

NOT TONIGHT MATE.

New album Holy Fire is out 11th Feb.

BRIDGIT MENDLER - READY OR NOT

MUSIC SNOBS, LOOK AWAY. Go listen to some indie record that's much cooler than mine. (Like what I did there?) This is pure and utter pop, and everything that a good pop song should be.

The girl from Good Luck Charlie (weekend guilty pleasure whenever I can find a TV) has turned herself into a cool and edgy babe in this video, hanging out with her cool and edgy friends in cool and edgy LA with their cool and edgy new Polaroid cameras. I really want in on that gang, they look way fun. I miss the sun.

Any song that contains the lyric 'I like your face/Do you like my bum song?' (totally sounds like she's going to say bum) gets my vote. And guess what? THIS ONE DOES. Inspired.

But in all seriousness, give this three listens. In a row. Preferably in an open top Cadillac speeding down a Cali freeway. Or you know, shivering in your ex-council flat in Hackney, whatevs.

Bridgit's coming to break the UK this Spring and I'm gonna be there to greet her with open arms, yuh-huhhhhhhhhh! (But not like at the airport or anything. Unless, I dunno, anyone wanna make banners with me? I've got glitter.)

ATOMS FOR PEACE - DEFAULT

Yeah yeah yeah, I know everyone's banging on about Judge Jury and Executioner which got its first play this week, but all I've been listening to is Default. Yes it might have been released four months ago and yes, I might be really late to the Atoms For Peace party but the important thing is I got there in the end. Better late than never. A mantra I live my life by. Hoping that others do too.

Cannot get enough of this track, and really looking forward to the supergroup's album Amok which is due out next month. Although it just makes me think of this type of amok...So hungry.

Oh and here's a dull story but a story I'll tell nonetheless - I once served Thom Yorke food at Big Chill. I couldn't tell you what he had, my memory doesn't stretch that far, but as the food choices at the hospitality deli were pretty limited, and he's vegan, it was most likely the Thai green curry. 'COS GOD KNOWS THAT'S ALL I ATE FOR AN ENTIRE WEEK. Hashtag vegetarian festival food problems.

Get more on the band here.

THEME PARK - TONIGHT

Ohhhhhh yeeeeeeeah this song is musical serotonin. Theme Park dropped new single Tonight at the same time as announcing that their self-titled debut album will be released on 25th Feb. If I was in a band, I'd make my first album self-titled too. You gotta, haven't you? (No.)

Tonight was produced by Ed Macfarlane of Friendly Fires fame, unlike the rest of their album which was whizzed over by Luke Smith. Whizzed over sounds a little seedy but I'm gonna leave it. This album will sound shitting great wafting in the breeze as you sip 3 for £5 cans of pre-mixed spirits in a sunny park in summer. I'M SO EXCITED.

Got a pretty evil sideways glance going on there. That's what my brother's dog does to ginger people and  strange men. Maybe she should join the band.

Tonight is out 18th Feb. Theme Park is out 25th Feb. Go fetch.
